How can I “grab” useable ftp worthy files of my entire website to upload onto another domain?

Author: admin  |  Category: Uncategorized

Hence creating a new website. The problem I am having is I tried right click “save as” of each page and it seemingly worked. The end tags on the folders named themselves properly to use in ftp(htm1,htm2,etc). I uploaded the files for each page onto the domain/server using filezilla ftp and after when I looked with my browser I saw each file as a line with a openable link on each ones name. but no website. I used a website builder to make the site I want to copy. it has no place to get at the html. i read there is a easy way to convert html into xml or xhtml. The site looks great,I have issues that come up though when run through tests though so if I converted it I could iron these out at the same time right?

There are better ways to down load your site. use a program like the one in this web site to download it – it retains all the relative links.

It is a really good one, I have used it for years and it gets better and better – and it is free

right click on the open page….

What you need to do is connect to the your web hosting account using a ftp client and download your entire site to your local computer.

Then connect to your new domain via ftp and then upload the site files from your old site.

As simple as that. Unless you don’t have access to your old domain… then that becomes tricky.
