    You are a business.
    You want a website.
    You pay for your domain.
    You pay for your hosting.
You develop your site yourself if you have the skills, or you pay a professional to do so.
Without skills, you can try Joomla or any other CMS, but you will not understand the first thing about it and you will waste your time, and it will NEVER look “professional”.
If you cannot afford a professional, your business is not worth it.
You cannot have a “professional” website designed for free.
    Not in Business. Full stop!
Don’t forget: the website is only part of your marketing strategy, not the whole of it.
Paying for the website is one thing.
Advertising it properly is another, and this will cost you much much more than just making the website.

Conclusion: Be a business-person, take care of your business needs, and use professionals to do the web part of your marketing.

Mr Site offer a package aimed at small businesses who have little money to get started. Their price includes the domain name and hosting and it starts around £25, although I would recommend paying the extra £10 for the next package up.
It is generally pretty ease to use, although there are a few annoying elements to it.
I created with it and people seem to have been pretty impressed with the results.
    Good luck!

I want an office building. I want it to be professionally built, but I’m not a carpenter, and I’m not going to hire one. Oh, yeah, I want a good plot of land cheap too.

    Good luck with that.

If you want your site to look professional, it needs to BE professional. Either become a solid web developer yourself or hire one. It’s really that simple.

There are shortcuts, but they are not satisfying. You can use a tool like DreamWeaver, (which is about as complex as learning a new word processor) but the results will not be entirely satisfying unless you spend a lot of time and effort.

Better, you could investigate technology like content management system (Joomla, Drupal, and so on) and learn to build the site yourself. Again, this is going to require a time commitment.

You can often get a nice professional but basic site for a few hundred dollars. Consider how much your time is worth.

If you do want to do it yourself, please take a look at my book, HTML / XHTML / CSS All in One for Dummies. It starts at the very beginning and takes you all the way through professional web development. If you want to hire someone instead, drop me a line. I may be able to set you up with a relatively inexpensive site depending on your needs. (I also have a web development company)

H i! As mentioned below, Dreamweaver is the best there is but it is expensive and unless you intend to do web design yourself, it is not worth buying it.

How does this sound to you……I will do your site free of charge, domain, hosting etc and say 3 months down the line we look at if you have made any money..if so, it will cost you £75 no more no less, no strings,if not then it is my loss.

My reason for this offer is that I have ran businesses over the past 30 years and I know how tough things can be. So if this helps you then I am pleased to do this for you.

  10. Starzlet Says:

I recommend this company to do it for you at affordable cost. They do web design, corporate branding, domain name registration/hosting and maintenance.
